Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and diverse wildlife destinations, famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees scattered across the landscape. Covering about 2,850 square kilometers, the park offers a unique safari experience with its mix of savannah plains, woodlands, wetlands, and the life-giving Tarangire River that flows through the park year-round.

The river attracts thousands of animals during the dry season, making Tarangire one of the best places to see wildlife concentrated in one area. Visitors can spot elephants in large numbers, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and an impressive variety of antelopes. The park is also home to one of the highest concentrations of bird species in Tanzania, with more than 500 recorded.

Unlike the busier northern parks, Tarangire retains a quieter and more exclusive atmosphere. It is especially rewarding for those interested in seeing elephants up close, experiencing the unique scenery of baobabs, and enjoying excellent game viewing with fewer crowds.
